ORLANDO – Johnny Travale and the UCF men's golf team are rolling. After a week that saw both Travale and the team win first place at the Hartford Hawks Invitational, the Knights placed third overall at the Carolina Collegiate Invitational and Travale topped the competition once again to win first place honors.
Travale posted a 7-under 209 score en route to the individual title. The Hamilton, Ontario, Canada native shot at least 2-under or better in every round to secure his second championship of the young season and third of his career.
"It feels great to be able to win in back-to-back events, said Travale. "I feel on top of my game right now, which is especially important as we prepare to play in the Isleworth Collegiate this upcoming weekend. I'm excited for the opportunity to go out there and defend my title."
With the win, Travale earns an automatic exemption to play in the BMW Charity Pro-Am, part of the Korn Ferry TOUR, from June 9-12, 2022.
After closing out day one of the two-day tournament in second place with a combined 565(-7), the Knights maintained their momentum in the final day with a 3-under 285 total, bringing their three-day total to 850(-14) and putting them five strokes back of tournament champions High Point, who shot 845(-19).
First-year Knight Luis Carrera was nothing short of dominant in the invitational. Trailing only teammate Johnny Travaleby just one shot, Carrera finished the event in second place with a 6-under 210 total.
Behind Carrera tied for third place was UCF's lone individual playing in the event, first-year Knight Markus Braadlie. After shooting a tournament-low 64(-8) in round two on Monday, Braadlie finished strong with a 211(-5) score.
UCF sophomore Egor Eroshenko shot 215(-1), tying him for 16th place overall, and senior Teddy Tetak also posted a top-20 finish after shooting 216(E). Rounding things out, senior Clement Charmasson posted a 224(+8) total.
